Crown Candy Kitchen remains an icon of sweets, burgers and egg-salad sandwiches for folks yearning for days of old. Inexpensive standbys, open around the clock, include Uncle Bill's Pancake & Dinner House, City Diner, and the Eat-Rite Diner. For pizza, Fortel's Pizza Den started out as a mom-and-pop to grow into a city-wide chain known for homemade dough and quality mozzarella. Steakhouses stretch from Dierdorf & Hart's to the Tenderloin Room.
